Internal Vacancy - Logistics Network Manager
Be part of shaping Avara’s new Central Logistics structure.
Purpose of the Role
We are creating a new Central Logistics structure to strengthen network-wide planning, improve how we use transport and warehousing capacity, and support excellent service at the right cost. As Logistics Network Manager, you will have an important opportunity to help build this capability and influence how logistics planning works across Avara.
The role will report to the Head of Logistics, a new leadership position that is also currently being recruited. Together, these roles will help establish the direction, governance and future capability of Central Logistics, working closely with site Operations, Planning, Customer Supply and Logistics Finance.
This role will require regular travel across Avara sites and third- party providers networks, with an ideal base being from Telford, Brackley or Hereford (but flexibility on location with a commitment to travel).
What you’ll be doing as a Logistics Network Manager:
- Develop an integrated central plan for inter-site product movements and customer distribution across our Chicken, Turkey and RTC businesses.
- Translate requirements across the full S&OP horizon into practical transport and warehousing capacity plans.
- Identify constraints and recommend solutions that make the best use of internal and external assets.
- Establish consistent network-planning processes, tools, governance and performance measures.
- Build clear cost and activity models to support network allocation and make-versus-buy decisions.
- Identify opportunities to improve network flows, asset utilisation, service and cost, and lead cross-functional implementation.
- Help shape the future Central Logistics capability, including the people, processes, systems, structure and resources required.
What we’re looking for
- Significant experience in logistics, supply chain, transport or network planning across multiple sites.
- A strong understanding of the relationship between transport, warehousing capacity, customer service and cost.
- Commercial and analytical capability, with confidence using data to model scenarios and turn complex information into clear recommendations.
- Experience of developing planning processes, capacity models, reporting or governance.
- Knowledge of S&OP and the ability to translate longer-term requirements into workable network solutions.
- The credibility and confidence to influence senior stakeholders, challenge assumptions and build support for change across sites and functions.
- Clear communication, sound judgement and disciplined delivery in a complex operational environment.
Why apply?
This is a chance to play a leading role in creating a new, network-wide logistics capability. You will have the scope to shape how the function operates, develop solutions with a visible business impact and work across Avara to influence future logistics strategy.
