As an inclusive, forward-thinking business, we take pride in our approach to Technical across Avara Foods and are looking for a highly competent and motivated Technical Compliance Manager to join our Technical Team, based at our Telford site.

Purpose of the role:

As a Technical Compliance Manager, you will support the day-to-day management of the site Technical Function to ensure legal compliance, food safety and adherence to customer specifications.

Operating Environment 

This role will be required to operate within the office and factory environment, which is a cold refrigerated production environment.

You will be working Monday to Friday 08:00-17:00 (Please be aware, there will be a need to support on a late shift to provide training for nights colleagues)

Your key responsibilities as a Technical Compliance Manager will include:
  • Championing the completion of root cause analysis of key drivers of non-conformance to drive quality improvement. 
  • Carry out Technical Traning and Competency assessment. 
  • Maintaining the Technical training matrix
  • Monitor the site non conformance logs for trends and work collaboratively with operations to drive improvements. 
  • Taking part in the implementation of the HACCP site plan
  • Supporting the wider team with site audits (internal and third party audit) 
  • Supporting Production with Technical monitoring and auditing to ensure that customer requirements are understood and achieved.
  • Ensuring all new and existing products have the appropriate due diligence in place to meet customer and retailer requirements.
  • Ensuring internal traceability and mass balance exercises are conducted to meet customer & certification requirements.
  • Understanding the principle of food fraud, key drivers and to be aware of recent and current issues. Aware of potential supply chain issues.
  • Supporting in the upskilling and development of the wider team 
What we are looking for:
  • Food related HND (degree is Desirable)
  • Intermediate HACCP Level 3 
  • Intermediate Food Safety Level 3
  • Ability to communicate to range of key stakeholders, both verbally and through training 
  • Internal auditing qualification
  • Experience of BRCGS v9 Food Safety or ISO 9000 standards
  • Proven leadership skills and experience of motivating teams
  • Presentation skills in delivering training through various methods to all abilities
  • Problem solving techniques.
  • Knowledge and experience of major retailers
  • Knowledge and experience of environmental matters
  • IT literate - experience using all Microsoft Packages and Technical systems
