A little about our Wednesbury site:
Our advanced manufacturing site in Wednesbury, West Midlands, is our newest advanced manufacturing site, and we’ve invested around £4.7 million into state-of-the-art facilities.
Our Wednesbury site is a flagship Added Value centre for Avara, which employ over 150 talented individuals at the site, who help to supply some of the UK’s largest supermarkets and popular restaurants!
About the Role:
As an inclusive, forward-thinking business, we take pride in our approach to investing in our approach to quality across Avara Foods and are looking for a highly competent and motivated Quality Systems Coordinator to join our Team, based at our Wednesbury site.
The role is predominantly office based, however some time in the factory will also be required. As a Quality Systems Coordinator you’ll be working Monday to Friday 08:00-17:00
What will you be doing as a Quality Systems Coordinator at Avara?
As a Quality Systems Coordinator you will support the smooth running of Technical Systems, ensuring accurate data, full traceability, and compliance with customer, legal, and internal standards and support the Quality Systems Manager and Technical team by maintaining records, managing system performance and providing reports and analysis to drive improvement.
What will your key responsibilities as a Quality Systems Coordinator include?
- Prepare and maintain site and customer KPI reports, presenting the data if required.
- Conduct data trending and analysis across complaints, microbiology, and non-conformance.
- Support and maintain technical dashboards, performance tracking systems, and internal technical spreadsheets.
- Provide ad-hoc data collection and analysis to support decision making.
- Work with the technical teams on customer data, trend reviews, and reporting.
- Support the Quality Systems Manager (QSM) in maintaining the site QMS
- Act as Deputy for the QSM when required
- Maintain and update the Technical MILO SharePoint, ensuring documentation, records, and logs are current.
- Collaborate with Group Compliance and other sites to ensure alignment and consistency across Technical system
- Complete full traceability exercises for recall simulations and live incidents.
- Provide support with third-party cold stores, where used, and liaise regarding traceability and on-hold products.
- Manage product and label data within Technical systems.
- Support setup and validation of label verification systems, where used, working with Engineering, Production, and Technical.
- Assist with training and job setup related to new or updated systems.
- Create and maintain reports on Safety Culture (iAuditor) and ensure data accuracy across all systems.
- Support third-party audits and customer visits, providing documentation, traceability evidence, and system demonstrations as required.
- Manage and maintain the calibration matrix.
- Organise and track equipment calibration and external verification, ensuring all records are complete and current.
- Maintain and update the taste panel schedule, ensuring all new products are added.
- Maintain waste transfer documentation and disposal logs, ensuring compliance with site procedures and legal requirements.
- Support or deliver technical and systems improvement projects.
- Participate in site wide initiatives to enhance data integrity, traceability, and overall system performance.
What you’ll need to be successful:
- Relevant scientific or food-related qualifications (Degree desirable)
- Practical working knowledge of BRCGS and major retailer requirements
- Experience working with major retailers, including leading audits
- Understanding of traceability, mass balance, and QMS management
- Strong attention to detail and organisational skills
- Ability to communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders at all levels
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
- Ability to work independently, prioritise multiple tasks, and support technical projects
