Job Shift Pattern:

We are currently looking for staff to work on a rotational shift pattern that operates as follows:

  • 2 Days On, 2 Days Off, 3 Days On, 2 Days Off, 2 Days On, 3 Days Off
  • Example Shift Pattern (over 2 weeks):
              Week 1:
    • Tue - Wed: Off
    • Thu - Fri: On
    • Sat - Mon: Off

      Week 2:
    • Tue - Wed: On
    • Thu - Fri: Off
    • Sat - Mon: On

This cycle repeats every 2 weeks.

 
Purpose of the role:
As a Laboratory Technician, you will: be a key player in the Laboratory department, the Laboratory Technician will perform microbiological, chemical, serological and other analysis, as well as media preparation to enable good customer service in undertaking testing requirements. 

Your key responsibilities as a Laboratory Technician will include:
Undertaking routine laboratory work and performing analysis to CLAS / RSA, UKAS and DEFRA standards. 
Using the Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS) in accordance with the procedures. 
Liaising with internal and external customers, dealing with their requests and queries.
Carrying out environmental controls, QA controls and ensuring adherence to the task rota. 
Participating in the EQA / IQA proficiency schemes. 

What we are looking for:
Education to A level (or equivalent) in Biology or other relevant scientific subject or relevant experience
NHC / HND / Degree in science equivalent is ideal 
Experience of laboratory testing in a food laboratory 
Strong attention to detail 
Competent IT Skills
