Quality Systems Manager

As an inclusive, forward-thinking business, we take pride in our approach to product quality across Avara Foods and are looking for a highly competent and motivated Quality Systems Manager to join our Technical Team, based at our site in Caistor.
Purpose of the role:
As the Quality Systems Manager, you will champion factory compliance and allow us to demonstrate due diligence in respect of food safety and quality.
Operating Environment:
This role will be required to operate within the office and factory environment, which is a cold food production environment.
Your key responsibilities as Quality Systems Manager will include:
• Day to day management and development of the site’s food safety, quality and regulatory systems.
• Controlling the internal audit schedule and verifying completion of any corrective actions.
• Conducting internal risk assessments, audits and gap analysis ensuring accurate recording and reporting of findings.
• Managing micro site testing/sampling and creating a programme to maintain site compliance.
• Ensuring supplier assurance, internal specifications and HACCP systems are maintained.
• Overall responsibility for the calibration of measurement devices used by the quality and production teams.
• Maintaining site document control systems and removal of superseded documents.
• Involvement in maintaining crisis plans for product recall and investigating customer complaints.
What we are looking for:
• Relevant scientific or food related qualifications. (Degree desirable)
• A practical working knowledge of BRC and retailer requirements.
• Experience working with major retailers including leading audits.
• Intermediate HACCP and Food safety qualifications.
• Internal auditing training.
• Basic understanding of microbiology and potential consequences to food safety and quality.
• Strong attention to detail.
• Ability to communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders of all levels.
Working Hours:
Monday – Friday 08:00 – 17:00.
There will be some required flexibility during seasonal peaks.
