Working Hours

42 hours  per week

4 ON 4 OFF – 18:00 – 06:00   

About the role:

As a Skilled Despatch Operative you’ll be Receiving, picking and loading out of chilled food products. Hygiene, safety, and process control all being priorities. So, you’ll be working in a fast-paced, dynamic FMCG factory environment which is noisy and refrigerated in some areas, manufacturing short shelf-life products where hygiene standards are critical.

  • A FMCG refrigerated warehouse environment
  • To carry out temperature and cleanliness checks of refrigerated trailers
  • To operate scanning guns to work with our systems of allocating work duties
  • Picking various products in line with customer demand
  • Making up of pallets to a set standard
  • Moving pallets in the warehouse using Powered pallet trucks, counterbalance fork lift trucks and Very Narrow Isle trucks
  • To ensure the area is controlled, clean and tidy and aligned with our GMP standards
  • Cover for technical operator in their absence
  • To follow instructions on a daily basis from the Process Leader in order to maintain an effective process
  • To be aware of, understand and adhere to health & safety procedures and set standards
  • To be aware of, understand and adhere to food hygiene procedures and set standards
  • Ensure information is treated as confidential.
  • Participate and promote the Avara Vision and Values.
  • To comply with and promote all Avara policies and procedures
  • Ensure that the Health and Safety Policies, Standard Operating Procedures are properly managed and adhered to at all times
  • Ensure that food safety, integrity, legality and quality applies at all times and in all areas of our business
  • Ensure that delivery of agreed SLA standards is maintained where appropriate.
  • Participate as necessary in appropriate shifts and on-call duty rotas, if applicable.
  • Other duties within the general scope of the post may be required from time to time.
  • The duties of the post and job description will be regularly reviewed by the line manager.

What you’ll need to be successful:

  • Good level of English and basic numeracy skills
  • The ability to work well within a team and communicate effectively 
  • Good attention to detail and a flexible attitude to tasks
  • Experience within a warehouse environment is desirable but not essential as full training will be provided
