A little about our Telford site:

Our advanced manufacturing site in Telford, is one of our main processing facilities, processing up to 1.5 million birds per week. There are over 1,200 talented people employed at our Telford site, helping us to deliver high quality products to our customers and making the business a trusted leader in fresh foods.

We’ve recently invested £2.3 million in technology and equipment, making it one of the most advanced food manufacturing facilities in the UK.

About the Role:

As an inclusive, forward-thinking business, we take pride in our approach to Operations across Avara Foods and are looking for a highly competent and motivated Planner to join our Site Operations Planning Team, based at our Telford site.

The role is office based, working Monday to Friday 07.00-16.00

What will you be doing as a Planner at Avara?

As Planner you will Co-ordinate and implement day to day planning & scheduling processes to optimise operational efficiency and maintain service level. 

What will your key responsibilities as a Planner include?

  • Create and maintain daily and weekly production plans.
  • Coordinate day‑to‑day planning with the Lead Planner and Schedulers, resolving real‑time issues as they arise.
  • Produce forward plans for the next three weeks and highlight risks.
  • Monitor raw material stocks and requirements. Investigate discrepancies and manage delivery schedules based on production needs.
  • Analyse plan accuracy, forecast changes, and material fluctuations to identify improvement opportunities.
  • Manage short‑life requests and waste, investigating causes and proposing preventative actions.
  • Communicate shortages and collaborate on solutions.
  • Ensure effective and timely communication of supply plans across all supply chain functions.
  • Provide cover for the Lead Planner and Schedulers as required.
  • Maintain data accuracy and update spreadsheets and planning systems.

What you’ll need to be successful:

  • Planning experience within FMCG preferred
  • Short shelf life or food experience desirable
  • Strong excel skills
  • Strong communication skills to interact effectively cross functionally
  • Excellent problem solving and analytical skills
  • Ability to work independently while contributing to a high‑performing team.
