Salary: Starting at £25,396.80, with the potential to progress to £32,000 (current Stores role)


Are you looking for an exciting apprenticeship opportunity in a fast-paced engineering environment? Avara Foods is seeking an Engineering Stores Apprentice to support our Engineering Team at our Hereford site. You will gain hands-on experience managing engineering stores while learning key skills that will help you progress in your career.


Purpose of the Role

As an Engineering Stores Apprentice, you will report to the Engineering MRP Lead and be responsible for day-to-day store management tasks, including stock control, purchase orders, and supporting the engineering team in all store-related activities.


What You’ll Do
  • Book in and issue stock items

  • Unload deliveries and manage materials

  • Conduct daily stock checks to maintain supply

  • Manage oil and gas bottle stores, including fuel deliveries

  • Raise and track purchase orders, receipting orders and services in the system

  • Handle invoice queries and payments

  • Arrange repairs for equipment

  • Add and update stock items in the stores system

  • Communicate effectively with customers, suppliers, and contractors


The Environment
  • Fast-moving FMCG manufacturing with refrigerated areas producing short shelf-life products

  • Frequent changes due to system and equipment upgrades

  • Compliance with hygiene, safety, and biosecurity standards is essential

  • Ability to stay up to date with operational requirements, regulations, and training

Apprentice Specification
  • Willingness to learn and work independently and as part of a team – Essential

  • Knowledge or experience in Engineering – Desirable

  • Strong organisational skills with ability to prioritise workload – Essential

  • Intermediate computer skills – Essential

  • Good level of English communication – Essential

  • Food Hygiene Certificate – Desirable
