About the Role:
We are seeking a proactive and highly organised Hygiene Team Leader to join our team. In this role, you will supervise all hygiene activities and provide guidance and training to departmental hygiene operatives. You will ensure the highest standards of hygiene, cleanliness, and compliance throughout the mill, while also overseeing pest control and specialist cleaning contractors.
The successful candidate will play a key role in maintaining audit readiness, supporting internal and external audits, and fostering a culture of safety, development, and continuous improvement.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead and coordinate day-to-day activities of the hygiene team, ensuring all areas of the mill meet hygiene standards
Train, develop, and support the Hygiene Team, including conducting inductions and ongoing training for team members and new starters
Oversee and manage external contractors (pest control and specialist cleaning), ensuring all work meets specification and schedule
Conduct routine hygiene and compliance inspections to maintain audit readiness
Support the site during internal and external audits, ensuring documentation is accurate and up to date
Maintain cleaning schedules, hygiene documentation, and contractor performance records
Drive continuous improvement in hygiene practices and site standards
Liaise with site management and other departments to address hygiene, pest, and facility issues promptly
Ensure compliance with company policies, food safety regulations, and industry standards
About You:
Previous experience in a hygiene leadership role within manufacturing or food production
Strong knowledge of hygiene standards, pest control management, and audit compliance
Recognised pest control qualification (e.g., RSPH Level 2 Award in Pest Management or equivalent) is desirable
Excellent communication and organisational skills
Proven ability to lead, motivate, train, and support a team
Strong attention to detail and a proactive approach to maintaining high standards
