Our advanced manufacturing site in Telford, is one of our main processing facilities, processing up to 1.5 million birds per week. We’ve recently invested £2.3 million in technology and equipment, making it one of the most advanced food manufacturing facilities in the UK. 

About the Role:

As an inclusive, forward-thinking business, we take pride in our approach to investing in our people across Avara Foods and are looking for a highly competent and motivated Transport Planner to join our Logistics Team, based at our Telford site.

The role is mainly office  based, however you may be expected to enter from time to time a fast-paced, dynamic FMCG factory environment which is noisy and refrigerated in some areas, manufacturing short shelf life products where hygiene standards are critical.  As a Transport Planner you’ll be working Monday to Friday 08.00 to 17.00

What will you be doing as a Transport Planner at Avara?

As a Transport Planner you’ll be routing and scheduling the delivery of finished goods and raw materials. 


What will your key responsibilities as Transport Planner include?

  • Based on customer orders you will schedule the delivery of all finished goods and the movement of raw materials to customers/factories in accordance with their requirements.
  • Liaise with other Avara sites to fully utilise our in-house fleet before liaising with third party hauliers and pallet consolidators to find the most cost-effective delivery solution.
  • Plan and schedule driver resources in accordance with legislative and ETI regulations.
  • Communicate inbound delivery timings and obtain booking references via our customer-based portals.
  • Develop a warehouse loading schedule that facilitates our OTIF (on time in full) objectives.
  • Liaise with Transport colleagues to ensure vehicles are scheduled in order to achieve our planned maintenance schedules, and no VOR vehicles planned

What you’ll need to be successful:

• Good geographical knowledge.
• Excellent Excel and other Microsoft packages.
• Excellent organisation skills.
• Good analytical skills.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced busy office environment.
• Knowledge of Drivers hours and Working Time legislation.
