Our advanced manufacturing site in Wednesbury, West Midlands, is our newest advanced manufacturing site, and we’ve invested around £4.7 million into state-of-the-art facilities.

Our Wednesbury site is a flagship Added Value centre for Avara, which employ over 150 talented individuals at the site, who help to supply some of the UK’s largest supermarkets and popular restaurants!

About the Role:

Are you passionate about optimising performance results?  Looking for a new challenge? Do you have experience in materials coordination or planning?

As a Planner you will oversee the creation of and facilitate the execution of daily plans for the production teams. Analysing and processing incoming data from various sources to produce a detailed production plan minimising waste of raw materials and labour for a busy food manufacturing site. 

The role is mainly office based, however you may be required to enter in to the factory environment so you’ll be exposed to a fast-paced, dynamic FMCG factory environment which is noisy and refrigerated in some areas, manufacturing short shelf life products where hygiene standards are critical.  As a Planner you’ll be working Monday to Friday 08.00 to 17.00

 

What will your key responsibilities as Planner include?

Assisting the creation of and maintaining daily planning schedules.
Creating a weekly plan, presenting this to members of the planning and production teams. 
Tracking daily packing and preparation schedules ensuring fulfilment of the plan.
Helping avert potential service level and performance issues by escalating variances. 
Planning optimal use of bird weights, labour resources and equipment.
Continually tracking actual performance versus planned performance to help push corrective actions. 
Gathering knowledge of wider factory processes to record and analyse performance data. 
Using performance data to continuously improve personnel and functional performance. 
 

What you’ll need to be successful:

 
Previous experience within a fast moving manufacturing or production environment. 
Excellent communication skills with colleagues of all levels. 
A high standard of IT proficiency including using Microsoft Excel to collate and present data. 
The ability to adapt quickly using real time information updates.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage the stock of materials on site, ensuring that materials are always available to meet production requirements. 
  • Ordering all ingredients and packaging, always considering lead times and shelf life.
  • Monitoring the sales forecast and responding to any change. 
  • Build and maintain a Bill Of Materials (BOM) spreadsheet, and then monitor daily, flagging any incorrect usages. 
  • Liaise with suppliers and manage all ingredient and packaging stock takes, ensuring correct stock rotation,
  • Cross check all deliveries to site.
  • Prepare for new product launches, key moments and Christmas, ensuring all packaging in place to meet deadlines. 
  • Helping avert potential service level and performance issues by escalating variances
  • Tracking daily packing and preparation schedules ensuring fulfilment of the plan
  • Continually tracking actual performance versus planned performance to help push corrective actions.
 

What do I need to be successful?

  • Previous experience of stock control and replenishment practices, ideally within the food industry. 
  • Previous experience within a fast moving manufacturing or production environment. 
  • Ability to build strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders
  • An effective communicator at all levels, with strong attention to detail     
  • Analytical with the ability to multi task and prioritise workload in a pressurised environment
  • A high standard of IT proficiency including using Microsoft Excel to collate and present data. 
  • Self-motivated with a flexible and conscientious approach to work
