Working Hours:

35 hours per week

06:00 – 14:30, Monday – Friday.

About the role:

As Halal Slaughter Operative you’ll be culling birds in line with Halal standards (you must fully understand the Islamic procedure and conditions for slaughtering animals). Once Halal slaughter has finished, to operate within the Intake rotation for the remainder of the shift. So you’ll be working in a fast-paced, dynamic FMCG factory environment which is noisy and refrigerated in some areas, manufacturing short shelf life products where hygiene standards are critical.

  • Involves the handling and slaughtering of live poultry.
  • The type of work is of a repetitive nature.
  • The role involves job rotation and consequently operators must be able to communicate with others and work as part of a team.
  • A FMCG labour intensive factory environment which is noisy and refrigerated in some areas manufacturing short shelf-life products where hygiene standards are critical.
  • To adhere to allergen controls.
  • To wear correct PPE for the area you are working in.
  • To be aware of, understand and adhere to health & safety procedures.
  • To be aware of, understand and adhere to food hygiene procedures.
  • To adhere to company policies and procedures.
  • To follow instructions as directed by Section Manager or other members of the management team.
  • Employees may be required to carry out critical control point (CCP) checks in accordance with

      their training, the record of which must be retained on site.

What you’ll need to be successful:

  • A basic level of communication and numeracy is essential
  • You must fully understand the Islamic procedure and conditions for slaughtering animals
  • No qualifications are required; however, full training will be given to obtain WATOK licence (Welfare of animals at the time of killing)
  • Previous experience in a similar role or working in the food manufacturing industry would be desirable
  • A basic Food Hygiene certificate and manual handling training would be desirable
  • A high degree of self-motivation and physical fitness are required

As Killing Operative you’ll be culling birds in line with Halal standards (you must fully understand the Islamic procedure and conditions for slaughtering animals), you will ensure both carotid arteries are severed on every bird before bleed out. Once Halal slaughter has finished, to operate within the Intake rotation for the remainder of the shift. Working Hours

41 hours per week

06:15 – 17:50, Monday – Friday, 1 Rotational Rest Day.
