Purpose of the role: 

Working closely with the Farm Management team, the Assistant Farm Manager will assist with managing, on a day to day basis, this company Broiler Growing Farm. This role would suit an ambitious individual that is looking to progress within the company.

Reporting into the Farm Manager, the Assistant Farm Manager’s main responsibility is for the wellbeing and performance of the livestock, although this will by definition, extend to the up keep and appearance of the site as a whole.

Other key responsibilities will include:
  • Ensuring that high standards of animal welfare, hygiene and husbandry practice are maintained. 
  • Helping to ensure the farm produces least cost Agricultural Performance. 
  • Ensuring site maintenance whilst complying with both legislative and Avara Foods standards and maintaining accurate records. 
  • Covering in the Farm Manager’s absence, supervising staff and third parties whilst on site, ensuring adherence to Health and Safety procedures. 
  • Operating financial control systems in support of effective best cost management. 
What we are looking for:
  • NVQ/Diploma Level 3 in Poultry production or similar Agriculture qualification is desirable but full training will be given.
  • Keen knowledge of / interest in Agriculture/livestock production 
  • Keen knowledge of / interest in Broiler Farm management best practices. 
  • Bird Husbandry. 
  • Effective communication and people skills are essential. 
  • Own transport is essential. 
  • Ability to carry out manual duties and ability to work with minimal supervision. 
Due to Bird Welfare, it is important that you do not possess any avian pets/poultry.
