We own and manage our entire supply chain, from farms to factory and all the way to the customer door – meaning we have careers that cover a whole range of functions. We have major processing sites across England, and an agricultural network of over 350 farms, spanning from North Yorkshire to the South Coast and Wales.  

A little about our Hereford  Site :  

The Hereford plant is our largest site and processes chicken products across two factory facilities, Grandstand Road and Yazor Road. Grandstand handles , whole bird production with Yazor responsible for portioning and added value. Across the whole site approximately 1,500 people are employed and it processes 1.5m birds per week. 

About the Role:

Avara Foods is a forward-thinking, inclusive business that’s invested heavily in its IT systems—and now we’re looking for a proactive and detail-oriented CMMS Systems Manager to join our growing Technology Team at our Hereford Site. This is an office-based role where you’ll play a vital part in supporting the team’s day-to-day operations. 

Working hours are Monday – Friday 08.00 – 17.00 

What will you be doing as a CMMS Systems Manager at Avara?  

As a CMMS Systems Manager, you will primarily manage the Asset lifecycle from Procurement through to Disposal across Avara's 15+ UK sites that are used by 2000 users.  Assets include Laptops, Mobiles, Support Contracts, Software Licences, etc. 
Working closely with the Technology teams, you will process around 90 procurement requests per month and look after 100+ annual contract renewals. 

Full training will be provided for the various software applications and skills required. 

What will your key responsibilities as a CMMS Systems Manager include? 

  • Strategy and Planning 

  • Ensure system compliance with industry regulations and company policies. 

  • Identify gaps in current maintenance processes and suggest tech-based solutions 

  • Define KPIs and performance metrics for maintenance operations 

  • Develop a roadmap for CMMS improvements and system upgrades 

  • Lead CMMS integration planning with other enterprise systems (ERP, EAM, etc.) 

  • Benchmark CMMS effectiveness against industry standard 

  • Team Leadership 

  • Oversee the daily operations of the CMMS, including system configuration, troubleshooting, and user support 

  • Stakeholder Engagement 

  • Work closely with maintenance, operations, and Technology teams to align system functionality with business needs. 

  • Organize workshops to understand user needs and pain points 

  • Communicate system updates and changes to stakeholders 

  • Liaise with vendors to customize features or resolve issues 

  • Present findings and reports to senior management and board executives 

  • Process Optimisation 

  • Analyse work order patterns, equipment histories, and downtime reports 

  • Suggest automation of repetitive tasks within the CMMS 

  • Implement predictive maintenance strategies where feasible 

  • Standardize data entry and maintenance request procedures 

  • Optimize asset tagging, categorization, and lifecycle tracking 

  • Budget & Vendor Management 

  • Develop annual budgets for CMMS licenses, support, and enhancements 

  • Negotiate service contracts and renewals with CMMS providers 

  • Evaluate ROI and cost-benefit of proposed upgrades 

  • Track spending and ensure compliance with financial policies 

  • Maintain vendor relationships and monitor SLAs (Service Level Agreements) 

  • Ultimo Project Support 

  • Build positive working relationships with all Avara sites 

  • Attend all workshops and project meetings on Teams or on site where relevant 

  • Foster consent across all Avara sites in terms of naming conventions, code structures etc.

What you’ll need to be successful:  

Essential: 

  • Strong understanding of maintenance operations and asset management principles. 

  • Experience with system integration, database management, and reporting tools. 

  • Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills. 

  • Ability to lead training sessions and support a diverse user base. 

  • Ability to work effectively and make informed decisions under pressure 

  • Ability to build working relationships with other functions across the entire business, across multiple sites and with suppliers 

  • Able to communicate technical topics and information to non-technical colleagues. 

  • Competency in Microsoft applications including Word, Excel, and Outlook 

  • Management of systems including implementation and upgrade experience 

  • Able to critically question requests for system changes. 

Desirable: 

  • Experience with regulatory compliance and audit processes related to maintenance systems is a plus. 

  • Experience working in a Microsoft Platforms environment e.g. Office 365 

  • Previous exposure to multi-site manufacturing and distribution in a food environment 

  • Writing SQL queries or other relational data base management systems query language 

  • Formal change management methodologies 

  • Production and maintenance of systems and training documentation
