Our advanced manufacturing site in Hereford, is one of our main processing facilities, processing up to 2 million birds per week. We’ve recently invested £1.2 million in technology and equipment, making it one of the most advanced food manufacturing facilities in the UK.

About the Role:

Do you thrive in working within a busy production environment? Are you looking for a new challenge? We are looking for a Quality Assurance Team Leader to join our technical team based in Hereford. 


Hours of Work: 05:00 – 14:00 / 14:00 – 23:00

What will you be doing as QA Team Leader at Avara?

As a member of the technical team, you’ll help ensure that products and processes across site confirm to legislative and customer requirements for Avara Foods.

What will your key responsibilities as QA Team Leader include? 

Effectively managing all employees in your area by ensuring appropriate training is given, developing effective communication, managing day to day disciplinary & grievance matters and conducting performance reviews in line with Company policies & practices.
Providing guidance and support to the Quality Assurance Controllers, being the first port of call for out of hours decision making, including rejection support and response.
Management of time management system for all hourly paid technical staff, as well as delegation of duties to ensure all Quality Assurance audits and tasks are conducted.
Conduct Weekly Department Hygiene, Fabric Audits and Finished product despatch audits, reporting and trending.
On behalf of the Quality Assurance Manager investigate any Out of Specifications (OOS) and customer complaints, briefing teams as required.
Act and follow up on Factory Paperwork Non-Conformances, monitoring and ensuring all are actioned and closed off. 

What you’ll need to be successful:

Previous experience of working in the food manufacturing industry would be desirable.
Previous leadership experience of a team of people in a similar role would be desirable.
The ability to review and trend data is essential.
Good literacy, numeracy and computer skills are essential.
Effective communication and team development skills along with planning and organisational capability is essential.
Practical experience of GMP, HACCP and other assurance system requirements is essential.
An NVQ Level 4 in Supervisory Management or equivalent, or the willingness to work towards management training and continuous development, would be essential for this role.
