Compliance Manager
Do you have up to date knowledge of bird welfare?  Have an auditing qualification?
Are you an experienced Compliance manager with poultry or livestock knowledge looking for an exciting new role? We are currently recruiting for a Compliance Manager to join our agricultural division supporting our Turkey and Duck Operation. This role is homebased but you will need to be located within 1 hour of our site in Scropton.

Purpose of the role
The Compliance Manager will maintain the Avara standards to include revisions of all the relevant farm assurance schemes as well as customer standards. You will also take ownership of the compliance and representation at the factory for company, customer, & retail audits as well as supplier audits at their premises as and when required. When required the compliance manager will support the general manager, regional managers and area managers to ensure that all our farms and hatchery are audit ready. You will take ownership of the end to end management of all farm assurance schemes to include booking audits, raising and receipting PO’s, closing out non-conformance and management of the certification bodies. With the exception of the Avara company internal audits this role will not be responsible for conducting the site audits on the company’s farms/hatcheries but will be there to support the team when necessary such as new farm audits.
 
Your key responsibilities as a Compliance Manager will include:
Agricultural Audits:
•Giving guidance on the technical requirements for each particular audit by providing the required policies and procedures
•Keeping the Managers informed of any changes required to the audit questions/requirements
•Assisting in the design and completion of audit paperwork, including none conformance resolution
•Completing “spot” audits and communicate/correct  non-conformances
•Keeping everyone up to date on changes in legislation/company requirements
•Assisting on the day as and when required
Supplier Audits:
•Conduct supplier audits to agreed protocols as and when required by visiting the supplier’s premises; conducting the appropriate audit; writing up the audit report; delivering the feedback to the management team; advising the supplier of an non conformances and working together with them to find solutions to comply where necessary.
Team Development:
•Support the GM and Regional Managers by being a mentor and coach for their team in line with the accountabilities of your role.Use company policies; industry standards; legislation; farm procedures etc. to improve the team’s knowledge, skills and appropriate behaviour.
Communication: 
•Excellent communication is essential across all areas of the supply chain – farm to production.  Always make yourself available to deal with any issues of concern and contact any Manager or member of staff who appears not to connect with the communication chain.  As an ambassador of the company ensure that you communicate appropriate information when attending meetings with customers and auditors alike.
Business Standards:
•To ensure that our farms comply with the highest standard of bird welfare; hygiene and bio-security; environment and health and safety by supporting the management team to drive strong personal ethics into the team to ensure it becomes second nature to ‘the way we do business’.  Also give support to ensure that all relevant paperwork is received, complied with and completed in line with auditing and the supply chain.
Bird Welfare/Bio Security:
•Always ensure whilst conducting your accountabilities that all policies and procedures do not breach any of our Bird Welfare and Bio Security rules and guidelines.  If there is a concern than make sure that the relevant Managers are aware of a possible deviation to put us back into compliance.
Legislation and Company Policies:
•To ensure our management team are kept up to date to be compliant with legislation and company policies as well as the requirements of the Food Safety Agency; Environmental Agency, and Farm Assurance scheme’s.
 
What we are looking for:
•A knowledge of livestock(poultry) and/or poultry processing
•Up to date knowledge of animal welfare standards
•Previous management experience
•Knowledge of audits, customer protocols, relevant legislation
•Relevant experience and qualified as a lead auditor
•Excellent communication skills with ability to influence at all levels and to form lasting relationships
•Good time management – must be organised and have attention to detail whilst being able to prioritise workload
•Be able to work on own initiative
•Sound problem solving and decision making skills
